Greetings.

Since the new year has started I figured that I would get the ball rolling here at Kiwipolitico. Although jafapete and anita are the originators of this blog, they kindly invited me to participate given the overlap in our perspectives. That is much appreciated.

I shall use the blog as an outlet for non-academic musings on issues of comparative and international politics, from a NZ-focused perspective. The hope is to generate interest and informed discussion on issues that otherwise may not receive the attention that they deserve (at least in NZ).

  1. non academic musings? what does that then mean for the reputability of the blog? doesn’t sound ‘reasonable’ like….

  2. Ali,

I think that Pablo means that you won’t have to put up with our academic musings. If you are really keen on thousands of words of heavily referenced convoluted academese please feel free to email us and I’m sure we’ll be happy to oblige :)

  3. Sorry guys. As Anita points out, there is a difference between scholarly writing (in books and peer-reviewed journals), editorial writing, journalistic reporting and blogging. Each has its own merits and niche and all are worthwhile. So no, it is neither patronising or disreputable to post “non-academic musings.” It is just another form of communication, pure and simple.
